Every therapist operates a bit differently. However, I generally follow the same process:
Your first appointment will last approximately 60 minutes and is considered to be the initial intake. This is where we largely discuss the reasons that brought you to therapy and your goals. We may also start to discuss various aspects of your background. At the end, we will discuss scheduling for the next appointment and determine the frequency of appointments. For the first few sessions, I will be getting to know you and will continue to gather information about your background at a pace that feels safe for you.
Many of my clients have felt relieved after their first session, due to simply expressing the challenges they have been facing to an empathetic listener. Some individuals may determine that my approach or relational style may not be what works best for them, at which point I'd be happy to assist in referring to another clinician. If you have any concerns about our therapeutic relationship or the process, I encourage you to provide that feedback.

Desired outcomes vary from person to person, and the treatment modalities/interventions that are implemented may vary depending on the presenting problem or diagnosis.
However, that being said, research has shown us that the number one predictor of positive outcomes is a strong therapeutic alliance. This therapeutic relationship is defined by mutual trust, feelings of safety, honest communication, a supportive environment, nonjudgment, empathy, collaboration, and respect. Engaging in this type of relationship can be incredibly healing. Many of my clients report greater self-awareness, improved ability for emotional regulation, improved self-esteem and self-compassion, improved boundaries, and positive effects on their personal relationships.

Yes. What is shared in our therapeutic space, stays in our therapeutic space. However, some exceptions apply with regards to confidentiality:
Child abuse/Elderly abuse
Court order
Threat of serious bodily harm to oneself or someone else
If you provide consent through a Release of Information form
Occasionally, I may consult with a colleague about a case, but every effort is made to conceal the identity of my clients and only share pertinent information in order to best serve my clients.

The answer to this question is highly dependent on the person, what brings them to therapy, and their goals. I believe that everyone progresses at their own pace, and the goals we may set for ourselves at the outset of therapy may transform over time. Some clients may stay in therapy for less than a year, while others may continue in therapy for a few years or more.

Frequency of sessions will be determined at the end of the intake appointment based on your needs and schedule. Typically, I recommend that new clients begin therapy on a weekly basis to help facilitate the development of trust and safety within the therapeutic relationship. When weekly sessions are not feasible, biweekly sessions are sufficient.

I require 48 hours notice to cancel your appointment. Cancellations that are made less than 48 hours in advance will be subject to a late cancellation fee equal to the fee of the scheduled service.
Life happens, of course, and exceptions can and will be made in certain circumstances. Additionally, the late cancellation fee may be waived if the appointment is able to be rescheduled within the same week as the original appointment.

My office is located at 210 25th Ave N, Ste 1220, Nashville, TN, 37203.
Parking: The entrance to Parkview Towers Parking is located off of Reidhurst Ave, next to CrossFit and across the street from Martin's BBQ. Many of the parking spots on the 1st and 2nd levels are reserved for other businesses; you may have an easier time finding a free spot on the 3rd or 4th level. Once you park, take the elevator to the 12th floor. The office suite, Therapy Space, is to your left. When you enter, walk up to the iPad and select my name to indicate your arrival- that will notify me to come get you! Feel free to text me at 615-219-9919 if you need any help or have any questions.
